Suspect Arrested June 13, 2022! Dogs Found Safe!
June 13, 2022 — Law enforcement in San Antonio, Texas, arrested Jon Green AKA Theodore “Ted” Maher.
He is the suspect in the May 12 kidnapping of 3 search and rescue dogs (one of whom was pregnant at the time) from Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Officials also found the kidnapped dogs safe, including the litter of puppies born to Zero since then. Their owner / handler, Dr. Kim Lark, is on her way to get them and be reunited!
#SaveKimsDogs !!!! All 3 dogs are female and trained in search and rescue. At the time of the theft, Zero was pregnant and due any day. She definitely has had the puppies on the run, so everyone also needs to watch for ads / announcements of a litter up for sale.
The $50,000 reward is for the safe return of all 3 dogs and Zero’s puppies.
They were stolen by the owner’s ex early Thursday, May 12, 2022, from Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Here’s What Happened
— Dr. Kim Lark, Carlsbad, New Mexico
In March 2022, I started divorce proceedings from the suspect — Theodore “Ted” Maher — though I knew him as Jon Green. He started doing illegal things and other things that made me uncomfortable and afraid.
He became delusional and thought he was doing so much work around the house. In reality, he got absolutely nothing done.
Plus, he just kept spending money on junk that he would buy on marketplace and craigslist. He always said he got a good deal and would turn around and sell things for profit. Spoiler alert ! He never sold anything. Everything piled up in my place. The crappier things looked — the less he cared and the less he did around the house.
My home never required a full-time caretaker, but he refused to get a job even though I asked him multiple times.
Based on growing fears, I got a restraining order against him on April 1, 2022.
He yelled at me often. My border collie Storm couldn’t stand him. Anytime he tried to kiss me, she growled, lunged, and tried to bite at him. Felony, my Dutch shepherd, never wanted anything to do with him. She avoided him as much as she could. Zero, who was pregnant and due any day at the time of the crime, definitely has already given birth on the run.
I knew things were a real problem when he tried to steal $56,000 from me. Thank goodness the local bank manager in my hometown of Carlsbad, New Mexico, called me. I told him that I did NOT write a check for that amount of money and that they should call 911.
The responding law enforcement officer attempted to stop Ted at the bank. When Ted refused to respond or stop, the officer used a taser on him. However, Ted pulled out the taser leads and escaped in an Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Ted later drove up to Albuquerque and swapped out the first rental car for a gray Chrysler Pacifica, license #257-WXW. That car is now more than two or three weeks beyond overdue for return. Enterprise has hired a private detective to find the car.
As far as the theft of my car with the dogs in it, Ted knew exactly when I would be at hospice. Since getting the restraining order, he knew I kept my 3 dogs with me at all times.
He waited until I left the house in the morning of Thursday, May 12, 2022. He went to my home and kicked in the doors to get inside and grab an extra set of car keys. That’s how he was able to steal my car with the dogs in it so quickly. It’s a 2015 Ford Expedition (burgundy color), New Mexico license plate #868-TCC.
I was only inside the hospice facility for a few minutes, and I saw him drive away in my car. He had an accomplice in a small van or SUV following him, so he had somebody help him perpetrate this felony against me and my dogs.
On top of everything else, he damaged the doors on my house, which will need to be replaced, and he took several other things:
- My other set of car keys to a Toyota Camry that my parents gave me
- My mom and dad‘s checkbook
- Other personal items of mine just to get my goat

Download, print out, and post or distribute the BOLO flier PDF file. Think of places a fugitive is more likely to be seen such as gas stations, rest stops, truck stops, restaurants, etc. The suspect is likely keeping the dogs out of public view, so it’s more likely someone may spot him than the dogs. Of course, any possible dog sightings are important to report too.
